Bobrisky Explains Why He Left Nigeria After Failed Travel Attempts
Controversial Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has opened up about the reasons behind his recent departure from Nigeria, following two unsuccessful attempts to travel abroad.
As previously reported, Bobrisky’s journey hit a roadblock when he was stopped at Murtala Muhammed International Airport while trying to board a KLM flight to Amsterdam on Thursday night. Despite his plans to travel to London, the cross-dresser was prevented from boarding, leading to widespread speculation about the cause of the disruption.
In an Instagram post on Monday, Bobrisky confirmed that he had left Nigeria temporarily, citing personal reasons for his departure. He explained that the travel disruptions had taken a toll on his mental and physical well-being. "Yes, I’m here to confirm I’m out of Nigeria temporarily. I need to attend to my sanity and my health," he wrote.
Bobrisky also pointed fingers at local security agencies, blaming them for the challenges he faced during his travel attempts. “Few Nigerian security agencies try everything to frustrate me, but naa, I got God,” he added, expressing frustration over what he described as unnecessary obstacles.
He went on to highlight the financial implications of his travel disruptions, revealing that he had purchased three business class tickets for his journey, each costing a hefty N9.8 million. However, only one of the tickets was successfully used. Bobrisky urged KLM to refund him for the two unused tickets.
"Imagine buying a business class ticket three times; only one was successful. KLM, I hope you guys refund me for the two I didn’t use. I know it’s not your fault, but it’s fine. Each business class cost me 9.8 million. I only successfully flew yesterday, 3/11/2024," he said.
In his post, Bobrisky also took the opportunity to respond to potential critics. "Before you come to my page to type nonsense, check your account balance if you can afford three business seats, not to talk of buying it three times. Well, I’m not in Nigeria, so your comment means nothing."
The drama surrounding Bobrisky’s travel saga highlights the ongoing challenges some public figures face when dealing with travel restrictions and the influence of local authorities. Whether or not he’ll return to Nigeria anytime soon remains to be seen, but for now, it’s clear that Bobrisky is taking a break to focus on his well-being.
