Warning! Heavy makeup causes cancer - (Must Read)

Mrs Ayopo Adeyemi, a dermatologist has warned women against the use of heavy makeup, saying it aggravates skin problems.

Adeyemi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos that the use of heavy makeup could lead to skin irritation, allergies and even skin cancer.

She said that excessive makeup was usually used by women to cover skin problems like pimples, allergies, patches, scars, dark circles, boils and wrinkles.

The expert, however, warned that this could aggravate the problems if care is not taken.

Adeyemi added that the harmful effects of makeup were not limited to skin related issues, but also varieties of other health challenges.

“Lipsticks, Kajal sticks and eye-shadows, for example, are known to contain lead, carcinogen and neurotoxin that can affect the nervous system adversely, leading to high blood-pressure, allergies, behavioural abnormalities and even decreased rates of fertility.”

She explained that some chemical preservatives used in many cosmetics were hazardous.

” Using too much product on your skin will eventually further the wrinkles, lines and spots you are attempting to conceal, and ultimately make you look older than you actually are,” she said.

The dermatologist said that it was imperative that makeup enthusiasts indulge in proper cleaning regime to remove all traces of chemicals from the skin.

“There are plenty of face washes, cleansers and scrubs available in the market to choose from.”

She advised women to use natural facial treatments like cucumber, tomatoes, honey, eggs instead of using unsafe products.

Man shares photos of all the girls he has slept with, Facebook users come for him

A Ugandan Man and a Facebook user, Alex Baale Gattusso, did what no one expected by sharing a photo of all the girls he has slept with. He also did put all the women he has slept with on blast.

The photos he shared, got him on the bad side of some Facebook users who ripped him apart. According to some of those who commented, sharing the photos makes him an idiot, and it's unthinkable to imagine that some people are supporting him.

Read some of the comments...... culled from Ugandanblog;

How I escaped being murdered by my close friend – Yung6ix

Nigerian rap artiste, Yung6ix, has alleged a close friend attempted to take his life late last year.

In a chat with Saturday Beats, Yung6ix says till date, he doesn't know why his friend, who is also a rap artiste, wanted to murder him.
Excerpts:

“I don’t know why my friend would want to kill me but that was one of the most shocking moments of my life. It happened at the studio in my house; I just came downstairs and the next thing I saw was my friend with a gun. I called him but he did not
reply. Then I saw the look on his face. He came with some other people. The guy by his side just took the gun from my friend’s hand because he noticed that my friend was already having a change of heart and he did not want to shoot me. When the guy took the gun, he tried to shoot me but I was lucky the gun jammed, so everybody ran away.
“To be honest, I don’t know what could have made him want to kill me. The only issue I think we had was not enough to cause any issue. I was shooting the video of one of my songs in Abuja the same day he was shooting the video of one of his songs that he featured me. I told him that I couldn’t  be there for his video because I was working on my own video. I told him that once I returned to Lagos, I would make sure I shoot my part of his video and I would take care of the cost. It was when I got back that he came to my house with a gun.”
The rapper said he had to report the matter to the police and his friend was arrested.
“They moved him out of our estate because he lived near my house. The police later told us that estate residents had been complaining about him and that they did not want someone who walked around with a gun living in their estate. That was how he was evicted from the estate and I felt bad about it.”
“All that is behind me now and I am thinking of my new projects. I have my record label and a sponsor because immediately I left Storm Records, I decided to be on my own without relying on anyone. Along the line, somebody came to support me financially in the person of Prince Mefe.
I decided not to be like other conventional artistes who would rather be very established before signing new acts. Every step I take, I want someone to grow with me the way Olamide also brought some guys up as he was becoming big as a star. Already, I have four artistes signed to my record label, KKTBM, and they are LK Kuddy, S.H.E, Percy, and Sean Dennis.”

Your marriage wasn't based on love - Journalist writes open letter to Lilian Esoro & Ubi Franklin

Nigerian journalist, Chris Ayo Joseph has written an open letter to actress Lilian Esoro and Triplemg Boss, Ubi Franklin.

Read after the cut....

"I shared this a while back in one of my post; it's worth repeating again.
______________________________
Honestly, I really don't want to believe Ubi Franklin's marriage to Lilian Esoro is over, seeing he still got his wedding ring on, and despite Lilian yanking off "Franklin" from her Instagram profile name and deleting all Ubi's picture. Obviously, there's a message she's trying to pass across to the public. But honestly the public don't care. WE DON'T CARE.
________________________________
Lillian, can you be matured for a minute and stop letting the public into your matrimonial issues?
Apparently, so much has been said online about Ubi Franklin & Lilian Esoro's marriage hitting the rock; some blaming the wife while others pointing fingers at the husband. But please permit me to share my honest opinion on this matter. I just hope I don't get bashed for airing my opinion just like i did on Ogbonna Kanu's marriage proposal to Laura Ikeji.
_______________________________
Having been around women, here's what i know about them. Women are die-hard lovers. Trust me. They love more than we men do. Apparently, I've come to understand that when a woman truly loves a man, he really doesn't need to fight hard to win her over. I'm not saying the man has to be perfect, No! But If the woman loves the man that much, she would cover up so many things for him and also believe in him.
________________________________
Having said that, without little or no experience about marriage, i might not be the right person to address this issue, but to my own little understanding, when you truly love someone, the kind of perseverance you have with them will totally be different. You as an individual will always play reasonable in every part in their lives. Now, talking about marriage vows being exchanged at the alter of God, permit me to ask this simple question.
________________________________
Why should real Christians  go to the alter of God in the first place when he/she knows there's no such thing as genuine love in their heart but selfish desires? So, you marry a person you don't love? A person you don't respect?

Because If you respect your partner and the alter where the name of the Almighty God is called, you can't come and make promises to mere humans and forget about it all; most especially now that a little child is a product of your matrimony.
________________________________
Like I'll always say, marriage takes both people being willing to work through the issues. A marriage only works if you're willing to work for the marriage and as well putting God first because God is Love.
So Lillian, please permit me to say this with all due respect.. "Your marriage wasn't based on love my dear" and i honestly think you both don't love yourself that much.
________________________________
Because if you do, prior to your wedding I'm very sure there are behaviours that are evident if you have taken enough time to get to know your husband. Certain attitudes and habits of his should not be a surprise, because when you made those commitment to your husband, you were committing to his whole being. It's rare that people turn into a new person after marriage.
_______________________________
So if your husband has something that bugs you, more than likely it bugged you prior to jumping the broom, now is the time you must deal with it. If it's really wearing you down, communicate how much it is affecting your relationship with him and see there is a compromise between you both. Accepting defeat or divorce is a no no at this point for you both, and as you know love heals all wounds.
_____________________________________
On a final note, i think it's high time you both take a break from posting your family issues on social media and take the time to pray for divine direction from God, that's what true Christians should do. Allow the will of God be done. It's my prayer that God heals you both fast. Can't wait to see you both hold hands together again at public events. Stay Blessed!

How can you say you used N270m to clear grass at IDP camp? – Reps Probe SGF Lawal

House of Reps committee investigating alleged diversion of funds and materials meant for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPS), especially the alleged use of N270million just to clear grass by the office of the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) said it was being frustrated by the refusal of the SGF, Mr Babachir Lawal, to appear before it.

The Committee on IDPs and the North-East Initiatives, mandated to investigate the allegation had invited Lawal to explain how his office spent about N12billion allocated for the IDP issues.

The committee is also investigating the expenditure of N270m by the Presidential Initiative on the North-East (PINE) “on just clearing of grass’’. Also being probed by the committee is the purported allocation of N188.69 million for Nigerian refugees living in Minawao, Republic of Cameroon‎.

Expressing disappointment with the attitude of the SGF towards the committee, Chairman of the committee, Rep. Sani Zorro, said “The SGF who was slated to have appeared hasn’t showed up. He did not write to intimate us on why his office would not come to explain why issues of internally displaced persons‎ have remained un-encouraging, in spite of the billions of naira claimed to have been spent.

“The PINE officials said he’s at the villa. But, as the secretary to the government under whose office the rehabilitation of the North-East was placed, we had expected him to come to throw light on the financial expenses made by his office.

“We also expected him to explain the implementation framework being used to spend money.

“We have been inundated by reports of diversion of materials and funds meant for the rehabilitation of the IDPs, and the North-East and the scandal had led to international embarrassment for Nigeria.

“Given the issues of credibility and integrity raised against the agency in charge of the North-East Initiative (PiNE) which falls under the SGF office, we had expected him to respect the invitation.”

THE DEFENCE
Testifying before the committee members, Executive Secretary in charge of the Presidential Initiative, Mr Umar Gulani, said that N270m was awarded as contract. He said the contract was for the removal of 250 kilometres of “invasive plant species along river channels and simplified village irrigation scheme (phase II) in Komadugu Basin in Yobe’’.

In reaction, Zorro expressed dissatisfaction with the explanation, saying, “we are of the opinion that the expenditure of the magnitude you have made‎ is not justified.

“It’s not acceptable that you spent such a huge amount of money on the clearing of weeds while 2.5 million internally displaced victims of terror go hungry. They have no shelter and medical care.”

The committee, therefore, demanded further details from PINE, to be submitted to it without delay.

Ebola Scare cause Panic at LUTH over death of patient

The death of a patient, who is suspected to have Ebola, has caused panic among patients and doctors at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH Idi- Araba, Lagos State.

A reliable source, who confirmed this development to our correspondent in Lagos on Tuesday, said the patient was brought in by members of the health authorities at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, to the hospital on Monday.

According to the doctor who was on duty when the patient was admitted into the Accident and Emergency Unit, the patient was vomiting blood and stooling, symptoms  which are similar to that of an  Ebola patient, before he died in the early hours of Tuesday at the Spill-Over ward of the hospital.

He said, “They rushed him to the Accident and Emergency Unit, and since he was vomiting and purging and he also had high fever, we quickly took his temperature, it was very high. We were all scared to take his blood samples because we were not wearing any Protective Protective Equipment.

“We had to take him out of the emergency ward to the other spill-over ward to avoid any form of contamination. We also reported to the Lagos State Government so that they can take him to the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Yaba for proper treatment. But he had started vomiting blood by this morning , and few hours after he died.”

The doctor said that the body has being transferred to the Mainland Hospital, Yaba, for testing and confirmation of the cause of death.

The source said, “Like I said, we could not take any blood sample when he was alive because we were not wearing PPE, and we could not manage him effectively because of the severity of the symptoms we saw and considering the fact that he was coming from the airport. He could have been coming from an Ebola-affected country.

“They will need to establish the cause of death, so as to be able to know whether to quarantine those that he had contact with from the airport to the hospital. LUTH does not have the facilities to handle any suspected case of Ebola, government should know that, so they don’t keep bringing suspected cases here. All suspected cases should be taken to IDH.”

Several calls to the LUTH’s Chief Medical Director, Prof. Akin Oshibogun, to confirm if the patient had died of Ebola were unanswered as at press time.
