Man Deliberately injects himself with Ebola Virus

A man has revealed he has been injected with the Ebola virus on purpose in a bid to fight the deadly disease. And according to Mirror.co.uk, Peter Hubbard said he hopes the small risk he is taking could help create a vaccine to prevent further outbreaks of the disease, which has claimed thousands of lives in west Africa.

Speaking from his apartment in Alexandria, Virginia, Mr Hubbard, a consultant who specialises in natural gas and peer markets, said:

“I get a lot of satisfaction out of the fact that this could potentially develop into a viable vaccine that prevents another outbreak. It might not help out with the current outbreak but it could prevent a future one, so that’s a real plus in my book.”

Mr Hubbard, 35, is one of 20 people taking part in clinical trials for a vaccine at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States.

Russia dismantles Apple statue after CEO comes out as gay

The story came all different when Apple CEO Tim Cook came out as gay that there might be consequences, unfortunately it has started. A human-sized iPhone statue featuring a screen that displays a photo and video tribute to Apple Inc founder, Steve Jobs, which was erected in St Petersburg, Russia in 2013, was dismantled by the people who put it up, a day after Apple CEO, Tim Cook, came out as gay.

The Russian group of companies that erected the monument released a statement today saying it was taken down on Friday Oct. 31st, because they needed to abide by 'a law combating gay propaganda". Whatever that means. I guess more to come..

Court in North Orders man to Remarry wife he infected with HIV Virus

A Court Sitting in Kano, and a sharia disposition ruling has ordered a middle-aged man to re-marry the wife he divorced after infecting her with the HIV/AIDs virus.

Abdullahi Ahmad was dragged to the court by ex-wife Umma Usman, who told the court that the defendant had divorced her and asked her to leave his house after infecting her.
Umma further told the court she had been married to Ahmad, who is her first husband, for about 13 years and that she had several children with him before she later found out that he is HIV/AIDs positive. The court also heard that the defendant issued the hapless woman a divorce letter knowing fully that he infected her with the disease.
Umma is asking the court to cancel the divorce issued to her by her husband and compel him to re-marry her since he is the one that infected her. In his verdict, the Judge, Malam Farouk Ahmad, granted the complainant’s plea, canceled the divorce issued to her by the husband and ordered him to immediately re-marry her.
Judge Ahmad said under Islamic Shari’a Law, it is binding on the husband to stay with the woman for the rest of his life being the one responsible for her getting an infection that has no known cure. He ordered him to take good care of the woman henceforth, adding that the court will be monitoring how he relates with her in their matrimonial home to ensure that he does not maltreat her

Why I Quit Hard Drugs : Terry G

Popular singer and producer, Terry G, is versatile, creative and controversial. Born Gabriel Amanyi, the weird singer, who has a huge fan base, recently shared with BOLATITO ADEBOLA his lifestyle, music and other issues
How has life been treating you lately?
I thank God; life has been so good and positive. I have been working around my brand, Terry G, making it look more attractive and appealing so that it can be widely accepted.

As a son of a deaconess, do you still go to church?
I don’t go to church always, due to my kind of job and tight schedule.

So you don’t find time to serve God?
Not going to church doesn’t mean one is not serving God. I have time for God always. My conscience is for God. I fear God and I know that the grace of God is more than sufficient for me. If you fear God and know that He exists and is always around to assist you, you are already connected to Him.
You recently disclosed on a radio live programme that you’ve stopped taking hard-drugs.

But do you still take little before going on stage to perform or always help yourself with alcoholic drinks?I don’t drink or take anything before going on stage. I live a normal life like every other celebrity. But when it comes to a job that makes you who you are, you have to take it every serious. I don’t drink before going on stage because a whole lot of energy is required for performance but once you drink, it will exhaust all your energy, but I still drink after my performance.

A lot seems to be changing about you. Recently, you announced an end to the rift between you and Timaya, as well as your erstwhile manager, Ozone.
Yes, there’s something about life and it is called maturity. It breeds changes both biologically and psychologically. Change is the only constant factor. At a particular time in life, I realised I needed people in my life to be happy and people also need me to meet their needs. I won’t block the flow of love by being adamant. I may be a source of an opportunity and at the same time I don’t want to be an endangered type or a barrier to other’s progress. I believe in peace, so we make peace to make things happen.

As a producer, what differentiates a musician from a singer?
A singer is someone who goes into the studio to sing but relies on the engineer to find him or her the sound-effect to complement what he or she sings. But a musician is someone who takes time to work and do research and bring out content before going into the studio and have 80 per cent assurance of a good job at the end.

Do you have any retirement plan?
I can never retire from music. Music is for life and forever. I’ll never retire. I’ll keep spreading my tentacles. I’ve a dream that one day – my type of music will be like a mission and every member of the society will adore my music than I expected.
We learnt you have ventured into pure water business.
Yes, you know music is a special part of my life; music is a hobby, it is what I love doing. In order to obey the rule of diversification, I ventured into other businesses, not just the pure-water business, because a lot of people ventured into so many things they consider good but Terry G’s water is the first business I ventured into apart from music and it has helped guide me into other businesses.

How is it doing in the market?

It has been doing massively well since we started. Though the challenges we are facing are high; the trucks we are using for distribution are not enough to move the goods around and the demands are very encouraging. In the first two weeks of operation, we ran out of stock, the customers’ requests were more than envisaged. Meeting up with consumers’ demands is the biggest challenge we are facing but I can tell you it’s quite an interesting and good problem.

There’s speculation that you are relocating to your house in Lekki?

Me ke? I didn’t buy any house in Lekki and I’m not relocating to Lekki. Even if I’m going to relocate to Lekki, it has to be my own house. Lekki is another environment I would love to reach out to because of my business but because my water factory is still in my neighbourhood for now, I can’t just leave here or my business.

Do you have any plan going into politics like other artistes?

I’m not a politician; I don’t have any plan going into politics. It’s not my way; I can keep fighting for the people with my voice and music. We speak the minds of the masses with our songs and that’s what makes us role-models, not politics. I don’t believe we need to join a particular party before we can fight or speak for the people.

But do you support entertainers delving into politics?

Yes, I support them. It’s their choice and in another way, it will help boost the entertainment industry and more money may come into the industry.

You recently posted a picture of your son on a social network playing musical instrument; but you earlier said you wanted him to be a footballer?
Yes that is true. All I know is that the boy will be great man in life but I want him to learn how to do many other things. When he gets to certain age, he will be able to choose and make a decision that suits him. What I’m trying to do is to make him understand different aspects of life. I’m not God to boldly say he’s going to be a footballer but that’s just what I want him to be. I am going to put him through the way by registering him in a football academy in London but when he gets to the age of decision making, he can choose to do whatever pleases him and we are going to support him with everything we have as parents.

Why have you not get married to Mimi, the boy’s mother?
She is my fiancée and we will get married one day. But I don’t want a situation where people will push us to settle down as if they own our lives. One thing many of them have not realised is that marriage is a decision we have to make once in life; I don’t want to make a decision now and change my mind later or else everybody looking up to me as a role-model or all of them agitating for marriage will call me an irresponsible guy. Besides, I don’t want to make a rash decision that I’d regret for the rest of my life. That is why I have been taking my time, putting things that make marriage worthwhile together and at the end, when that fruitfulness is everywhere – we can live our lives together forever. I thank God I have a good and understanding partner and we are working together.

What do you really understand about marriage?
I don’t know anything about marriage, because I have never been into it, but marriage is when two people of the opposite sex live together. Technically, I’m married because my fiancé lives with me and my son. I lived like a married man, though not by ring or court pronouncement. Everybody asks me about marriage but hardly talks about divorce. Let’s not go into that aspect so we don’t hurt the victims of those circumstances. If I can say it here, I don’t want to rush into marriage so I won’t become a victim of the circumstance called divorce.

Hit and Run : 10 Year-old Girl Crushed To Death In Benin

It was a tragic event in Benin City, Last weekend as a 10 year-old girl was crushed to death by a hit-and-run driver at Iguosa, a suburb community located along Ugbowo-Lagos Expressway.
Eyewithness got some information that the girl was knockd down by a Toyota Camry car who was on a top speed along the express road, while the girl was crossing from a blind end due to trailers parking along the road.
One of the eyewitnesses who refused to give his name, blamed the accident on the presence of heavy duty vehicles parked by the side of the road, which made it difficult for pedestrians to check properly before crossing.
“She wanted to cross to the other side of the road but she didn’t notice that a car was coming. As soon as she began to cross, the car came in full speed and hit her and she died instantly.
“Those trailers parked along the road are the cause of most of the accidents. When somebody wants to cross the road, there is no way he can see the other side of the road,” he said.
At the time of the report, the lifeless body of the girl had been removed and deposited at an undisclosed mortuary by the operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps.
This is a call to the state monitoring body on traffic matters to help pass directives for trailers not to park along the road as this might lead to more deadly incidence in that portion of the road.

Watch Exclusive Video and Pics of T.B. Joshua carrying three bags of rice

Its really surprising to see the humility of this nature in a Man of God as this exclusive photo and video reveals controversial Pastor T.B. Joshua carrying three bags of rice went viral this week within Nigerian social media and blogs.

While most commended Joshua for his humility and humanity, there were suggestions that the picture was ‘photo-shopped’ and that is left for you to decide after watching the video

Others insinuated the image was nothing but a tasteless publicity stunt in the light of the recent tragedy that befell The SCOAN where over 100 died in a building collapse

As a viewer of Emmanuel TV, I have actually seen the video clip of this particular humanitarian mission previously and managed to find the footage on YouTube.  For clarification, this did not take place after the tragedy last month, putting to rest the allegation that this was an ill-timed publicity feat. So, for all the doubters and skeptics, here is video evidence of Pastor T.B. Joshua carrying three bags of rice in one of his numerous philanthropic visits to less-privileged areas confirming that it was not a photo edit of photoshop release.

Vatican News : Bishops say gays have gifts to offer church

Catholic bishops signaled a radical shift in tone Monday about accepting gays into the church, saying they had gifts to offer and that their partnerships, while morally problematic, provided homosexual couples with "precious" support.

In a preliminary report, released half-way through a Vatican meeting on family life called by Pope Francis, the bishops also said the church must welcome divorcees and recognize the "positive" aspects of civil marriages and even Catholics who cohabitate, as well as the children of these less traditional families.

While it does not change church doctrine, the tone of the report on a host of hot-button family issues such as marriage, divorce, homosexuality and birth control was one of almost-revolutionary acceptance and understanding rather than condemnation. It will guide a closed-door debate until a final document is issued Saturday.

Gay rights groups hailed what they called a "seismic shift" in the church's attitude toward gays.

"For the LGBT Catholics in the United States and around the world, this new document is a light in the darkness — a dramatic new tone from a church hierarchy that has long denied the very existence of committed and loving gay and lesbian partnerships," said Chad Griffin, president of Human Rights Campaign, the biggest LGBT rights organization in the U.S.

Some conservative cardinals downplayed the report as insignificant or derided it as unacceptable, while conservative groups denounced it as heresy and a "betrayal" that will only serve to confuse Catholics.

"Confused, contradictory chaos in Rome," headlined the arch-conservative commentator Michael Voris.

Bishops clearly took into account the views of the pope, whose "Who am I to judge?" comment about gays signaled a new tone of welcome for the church. Their report also reflected the views of ordinary Catholics who, in responses to Vatican questionnaires in the run-up to the synod, rejected church teaching on birth control and homosexuality as outdated and irrelevant.

In a sign of the chasm that is apparently underway, Francis decided late Friday to add six progressives from four continents to the synod leadership to help prepare the final document after several conservatives were elected to leadership positions. None of Francis' appointees were Africans, who are traditionally among the most conservative on family issues.

"The drama continues," a wry Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, archbishop of Manila, said of the debate.

The bishops said gays had "gifts and qualities" to offer and asked rhetorically if the church was ready to provide them a welcoming place, "accepting and valuing their sexual orientation without compromising Catholic doctrine on the family and matrimony."

For a 2,000-year-old institution that teaches that gay sex is "intrinsically disordered," even posing the question was significant.

"This is a stunning change in the way the Catholic Church speaks of gay people," said the Rev. James Martin, a Jesuit author. "The Synod is clearly listening to the complex, real-life experiences of Catholics around the world, and seeking to address them with mercy, as Jesus did."

The bishops repeated that gay marriage was off the table. But it acknowledged that gay partnerships had merit.

"Without denying the moral problems connected to homosexual unions, it has to be noted that there are cases in which mutual aid to the point of sacrifice constitutes a precious support in the life of the partners," they said.

Francis DeBernardo, executive director of New Ways Ministry, a Catholic gay rights group said that though the report repeats doctrine about gay marriage, "the move toward accepting and valuing the gifts of gay and lesbian people is a major step forward."

Cardinal Timothy Dolan, archbishop of New York, downplayed the significance of the report, saying it was merely a draft and did not represent any kind of "earthquake" in church teaching. "It's not the final word and we're going to have a lot to say about it," he said in an interview with the SiriusXM/Catholic Channel.

Indeed, Polish Cardinal Stanislaw Gadecki called the report "unacceptable" and a deviation from church teaching, according to an interview with Vatican Radio.

Conservative groups rejected the report as a "betrayal" and even heresy.

"What will Catholic parents now have to tell their children about contraception, cohabiting with partners or living homosexual lifestyles?" asked Maria Madise, coordinator of the Voice of the Family, which says it represents several pro-life and conservative groups. "Will those parents now have to tell their children that the Vatican teaches that there are positive and constructive aspects to these mortal sins? This approach destroys grace in souls."

The tradition-minded blog Rorate Caeli called the document "heresy, homoheresy."

In the report, bishops said the church must grasp the "positive reality of civil weddings" and even cohabitation, with the aim of helping the couple commit eventually to a church wedding.

They also called for a re-reading of the 1968 encyclical Humanae Vitae, which outlined the church's opposition to artificial birth control. The bishops said couples should be unconditionally open to having children, but that the message of Humanae Vitae "underlines the need to respect the dignity of the person in the moral evaluation of the methods of birth control."

There has been much talk inside the synod about applying the theological concept of the "law of gradualness" in difficult family situations, including over contraception. The concept encourages the faithful to take one step at a time in the search for holiness.

In matters of birth control, the concept amounts to a tacit acknowledgement that most Catholics already use artificial contraception in violation of church teaching. But applying the concept pastorally would encourage priests to meet these couples where they are, and then help them come to understand the full reasoning behind the ban and then adopt it themselves.

Bishops also called for "courageous" new ways to minister to families, especially those "damaged" by divorce. The document didn't take sides in the most divisive issue at the synod, whether Catholics who divorce and remarry without an annulment can receive Communion.

Church teaching holds that without an annulment, these Catholics are living in sin and thus ineligible to receive the sacraments.

The document said these Catholics deserve respect and should not be discriminated against, and then laid out the positions of both sides: those who want to maintain the status quo barring them from the sacraments, and those who favor a case-by-case approach, in which the couple undertakes a path of penance.

Pope Francis has called for a more merciful approach to these couples, but conservatives have insisted there is no getting around Jesus' words that marriage is indissoluble.

There have been suggestions that the conservatives were being sidelined, if not silenced, behind the synod walls given Francis' known position on the matter.

Asked about the perceived sidelining of conservatives at the synod, Tagle, the archbishop of Manila, said there had been "ample space" for people to speak their minds.

On other issues, the bishops said:

—The church must speed up and streamline the annulment process to make it "more accessible and flexible." Proposals include removing the automatic appeal for annulment cases and allowing an administrative rather than cumbersome judicial process, the bishops said.

—Divorced Catholics who remarry in civil unions must be treated with respect "avoiding any language or behavior that might make them feel discriminated against."

—Children of gays and divorcees require special pastoral care. "The church pays special attention to the children who live with couples of the same sex, emphasizing that the needs and rights of the little ones must always be given a priority."
