Ex-convict held for robbery in Ogun (Photo)
Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested an ex-convict, Ibrahim Akinola, for armed robbery.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday morning after he and one accomplice, now at large, broke into the house of one Ojupeju Joseph at Orimerunmu area of Mowe, inflicted matchete cuts on his head after which they dispossessed him of the sum of N150,000.
It was learnt that the Divisional Police Officer of Mowe Division, Mr Charles Ebhuoma, following a distress call, led a team of anti-robbery policemen to the scene where the suspect was arrested while his accomplice escaped, The Nation reports.
The spokesman of Ogun Police Command, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, said a Plasma television was recovered from the suspect. Abimbola said:
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) for discreet investigation.

”Investigation revealed that the suspect had served a jail term before and he is still having a pending court case on robbery allegation against him.
