Rihanna Launches River Island Collection in London

Rihanna

Hot off the heels of her 25th birthday, Rihanna had another reason to celebrate on Monday with the official launch of her River Island collection.

The singer made a special in-store appearance at London's Oxford Street, where she showed her pride for her debut line by tweeting,"In London launching my #RihannaForRiverIsland collection tonight at Oxford Street! #phuckyoclothingline."
Of course, she also kicked off the event clad in one of her designs, wearing a sleek long-sleeved dress that—in true RiRi fashion—still showed off some skin, thanks to a sultry thigh-high slit and sexy keyhole opening in the back. She paired her staid-meets-sexy frock with Manolo Blahnik sandals, but took the time to show off her seriously fierce River Island beige-and-black high heel booties by posing with the stylish shoes.

Givenchy gives Rihanna a designer T-shirt with her face on it for her birthday

If you're a fan of Rihanna's skin-baring style, you can definitely channel your inner rude girl with skin-baring pieces from her line, like a striped bra top in spring's hot black-and-white trend, but you can also find more modest pieces, like the shockingly bright neon T-shirt dress that's right in keeping with the electric shades that designers Proenza Schouler and Oscar de la Renta also embraced this spring.

But with a starting price of $45, Ri-Ri's collection is a little more affordable than her more seasoned designer counterparts, so just about any fashionista can shine bright like a diamond in her creations.
What do you think of Rihanna's River Island line?

Wizkid floats new label, ‘Starboy music’

Wizkid Label

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun (Wizkid) will no longer be just a singer and song writer but a record label boss as he floats his new music label Starboy music.

Wizkid told Silverbird TV entertainment presenter Yvonne ‘Vixen’ Ekwere at Iyanya’s album launch held last weekend ”Starboy music is actually my little baby. It’s something I’ve been nurturing for a while now. I’ve always wanted to do this, so I’m really excited”.

Wizkid promised to sign new acts to the label. ‘‘I have great acts I’m going to be putting on through Starboy Music, so please continue supporting me and I’ll never let you guys down.

Wizkid made interesting comments when asked on his current relationship with former label E.M.E “We’re still cool, EME is still family, most definitely‘, he answered.

Last month, Wizkid dropped the bombshell that he was leaving E.M.E, the label that threw him in stardom to “start all over again.”

No one has been able to ascertain the reason for the fracas even though there is wide speculation that the terms of his contract with E.M.E is the culprit. But unlike the case of D’banj and Don Jazzy during the Mo’hits war when interviews from both sides had substantially cleared the air neither Wizkid nor E.M.E is yet to speak to the press on the issue.

‘I Won’t Sign Any Artiste Until Psquare Stops Singing’ – Jude Okoye

Psquare and Jude Okoye at the BBC, London
CEO of Northside Entertainment/Square Records, Jude Okoye says he is not looking forward to signing any new artiste in the nearest future.

The multi-award winning video director and elder brother of Psquare told Hiphop World magazine in an interview ’I don’t know about Peter and Paul but me personally I won’t sign any artiste until P-Square stops singing, that is the same thing I said when you asked me why I’m not shooting videos for other artistes, everyone that comes under this umbrella will start comparing.’

The label boss who has also scored some of the biggest videos in Africa also explains his not shooting for other artistes too. ‘That’s the reason why in managerial aspect and even shooting videos, people will definitely want to compare, so because of that I made up my mind that I’m better off on my own’

Square Record’s attempt at experimenting with non-Okoye acts failed last year, with the drama surrounding May D who was eventually dropped from the label.
