‘I Like 2face And Wizkid, But I Don’t Like D’banj, He Sold His Soul’ – Majek Fashek

Majek Fashek and  2face Idibia

As the old school acts continue to give way to the new generation superstars, veteran reggae musician, Majek Fashek seems to be impressed with a few of the younger generation of Nigerian artistes.

In a recent chat with NET, Majek who continues with attempts to revive his career, expressed his approval for the kind of music played by pop icon 2face Idibia and pop sensation, Wizkid. ‘I like Wizkid and 2face, they play good music’, said the ‘rainmaker’.

But he knocked D’banj for his alleged ‘affiliation’ with the mystery cult, Illuminati.
In the interview, due to be published later today, Majek said, ‘I don’t like that other boy called D’banj, those ones that went to join Illuminati. How can you go and sell your soul to the devil because you want to be famous. I don’t even like his music anyway’.

Majek Fashek whose real names are Majekodunmi Fasheke, was a reggae path-finder and international star; tipped by many to lead the genre from where Bob Marley stopped. But years of alleged substance abuse and failed projects have ruined that hope. Many are now concerned for his mental health, even as those close to him say he’s living in incredibly humiliating conditions

Majek Fashek runs mad, seen staggerring and talking rubbish in Ogba, Lagos

Majek Fashek

Veteran reggae artist, Majek Fashek is a shadow of his former self, the once handsome looking, bubbly fellow is now in a pitiable condition.

He is now mentally unstable and sources say he is already in rehab but from a recent report, the little patience crooner is not getting any better. he was spotted last Friday at Ogba, Ikeja Lagos clutching his guitar, staggering with a cigarrette in his mouth, murmuring incoherent words.

Majek resides in Egbeda, Sewage area of Gowon Estate, and according to a neighbour, she said;
"Fashek is gone, I'm not sure any kind of rehab will bring him back. He messes up in the estate; he drinks and staggers around with crowd gathering around him. He's dried up. He has body guards and a deep blue jeep, but most times, I think he sneaks out of the house and ends up misbehaving. The first time i saw him, I thought he was a mad man. He's gone!"
The cause of majek's condition is none other than his addiction to marijuana, cocaine and alcohol (3 of the most dangerous hard drugs in the world).

Sometime in 2012, we heard he got a music deal of N15 million naira and was scheduled to release an album...no one has seen any album or heard any single but from the look of things, all did not go well.

We only pray he recovers and God help him quit hard drugs otherwise Nigeria might lose another musical gem.

“I already have about four or five albums. I got a new single out but I’m working on an album that will released in Nigeria”, he said.

According to the dread locked wearing reggae musician, he’s also planning on doing several collaborations with some notable A-list acts in the music industry, pointing to Tuface and Black Face as top on his list.

My plan Majek revealed “
is to work with some young Nigerian musicians. For now I’ve got two people in mind; 2Face and Black Face.” Speaking on his life in the U.S, Majek who has been battling a drinking problem for years disclosed that he was in Nigeria to escape the harsh economic climate in America.

I had to leave there because they were sucking my blood. So I ran. I’m just glad I have peace of mind right now; you can have all the money in the world but end up dead or unhappy.” he said
