Nnamdi Kanu apologises to Pres. Buhari, Jonathan, Igbo elders

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and founder of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed regret for referring to President Buhari as a terrorist, evil and a paedophile during one of his programmes on his radio station on August 1st this year. Kanu tendered the apology for his comment against Buhari, Jonathan and others in a statement which he made to the DSS on October 23rd.

The statement in part reads
"Reference to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a terrorist, evil and a paedophile is regrettable and uncalled for and for that, I unreservedly apologise and will be doing so in a private letter to the President. Before PMB (President Buhari) there was the administration of Goodluck Jonathan. I also said uncomplimentary things about him and Igbo elders as well, which I now recognise should not have happened because it is un-African to be rude or insolent to elders. All I was trying to do is to draw attention to the problems afflicting society and something done about them.”‎.
He says he is however not apologetic on his stand for the actualization of the Biafran state. Kanu who is standing trial for treason and five other offenses, was arrested on October 14th this year. He was recently charged to court by the ‎federal government.

BREAKING: Jonathan, Army Chiefs Lost Crude Oil and Uranium Rich Borno To Boko Haram

We are simply following the money here. It has been 18 billion USD invested into the so-called war against Boko Haram over the past five years of this Jonathan government. $18 BILLION Dollars! And what did we buy with the money? What did we achieve with it? We have practically lost Borno to Boko Haram. We have lost thousands of lives, limbs and livelihoods. They say there is only one operational jet bombing Boko Haram; I don’t know how true that is, but with the comfortable way Boko Haram advances as illustrated in all their videos, I doubt we have even one useful jet engaged in this war after 18 billion dollars was pumped into it.

It is no longer news that many of our soldiers have not been paid their salaries; this with the 18 billion dollars the government has spent in this war. So I ask- on what did they spend this money? Where is the 18 billion dollars? Why are we losing Borno to Boko Haram after spending 18 billion dollars? Is the money in Switzerland? #WhereIsOurMoney? Is there any kind of accountability for the war spending?

18 billion dollars can buy 40,000 Armored Personnel Carriers, APC’s; it can buy a million drones. It can buy 150,000 helicopters. With just $10 million, we could have armed our Civilian-JTF properly and organized them to comb and decimate Boko Haram in any three months since 2011. 18 billion dollars is 18,000 million dollars! A million dollars would have bought bullet proof jackets for our army of 30,000 CJTF. Another $9 million would have bought them enough vehicles, guns, gear, night vision goggles and anything else they need to terminate Boko Haram in few weeks.

I was discussing with a partner security expert today, he said that...
If Nigeria paid Cameroon 1 billion dollars, the Cameroonian army would have happily helped us eliminate Boko Haram from Sambisa in a few weeks. Just 1 billion dollars. We are talking about 18 billion dollars that this war has cost Nigeria and we do not see any return for our investment. Rather Nigeria is losing one of its most naturally blessed pieces of real estate; rich in Uranium, oil and farm land. They say in Bama, the Uranium seeps from the ground. Some areas are not habitable because the Uranium that pollutes the wells. Oil has been discovered in the Lake Chad basin. This is how blessed Borno is. No doubt, the reason why it is to be destroyed. The State has remained poor because of the wicked leaders it has had and Nigeria has had who did not promote its development, people like Ali Modu Sheriff. But today, we are losing this piece of land with great African history. A piece of land that could not fall to the Dan Fodio warriors, to some mentally deranged, piece-of-trash, ragtag bandits, because our army chiefs and President have decided to loot our billions and send us to early graves in hopelessness, helplessness and hopelessly, helpless shame.

I am thinking about 18 billion dollars here. Our tiny organization, ENDS donated items worth just a few thousands of dollars to the people of Borno. Recently a friend there told me the people were utilizing some classified intelligence reconnaissance equipment to protect themselves in Maiduguri. He said he knew it was we who donated it. I am talking just tiny money here that made a difference for the people. Then I am thinking of 18 billion dollars. If you wish to recollect what 18 billion dollars is and what difference it can make, re-vista my #WhereIsOurMoney article: [$20bn Stolen: Now We All Cannot Buy Shoes! #OccupyNigeria http://ends.ng/?p=561]

I do not see a difference for the people of Borno. I do not see a difference for the Nigerian army, with $18 billion pumped in. The Civilian-JTF who have been the most essential force protecting Borno and environs have complained that they receive little support from the Government. The only people, who seem to be enjoying some kind of difference attributable to the 18 billion is Boko Haram who increase in capacity every day and get the most sophisticated equipment to perpetuate their systematic genocide on the people of our lovely State. Can we deny that they are the only benefactors of the $18 billion?

18 billion dollars to lose all these lives, to have our children locked up in prisons in Bama as in today’s news, to have our daughters abducted for rape and sons conscripted for war. 18 billion to have all our elders slaughtered? 18 billion to lose Borno to Boko Haram? I think we have been defrauded. Defrauded deadly! Ameen to the prayers of our abducted Chibok Angels. May your enemies keep exposing themselves and may Psalm 109 6-15 continue to be their portion as we have been witnessing with the miraculous Davis’ revelations and other events where they are fast unwinding and exposing themselves. We will overcome.

Jonathan, Omisore's Camp Disagree Over Osun Election Result

President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP leadership on Sunday differed with the Osun State chapter of the party on the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election won by Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the APC.

The APC candidate who is the incumbent governor of the state polled 394,684 to defeat his PDP counterpart, Iyiola Omisore, who scored 292,750 in the final results announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Bamitale Omole, on Sunday morning.

While Jonathan and the national leadership of the PDP conceded defeat to Aregbesola , the Osun chapter of the party rejected the election result.
Osun PDP disagrees with President Jonathan: “I cannot sign. We cannot accept the outcome of the election. My principal, Iyiola Omisore, knows the next line of action. We will decide what to do. We had earlier written a petition to INEC to establish our complaints.”

Jonathan, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, congratulated the winner and said the peaceful conduct of the election reaffirmed his administration’s determination to positively reform Nigeria’s electoral processes.

He added that the outcome of the election vindicated him from what he called unfair allegations that measures put in place by the Federal Government for the Ekiti and Osun state elections were designed to achieve favourable results for the PDP.

The President commended INEC and security agencies for a "free, fair, credible and peaceful" poll.

Jonathan said as Aregbesola prepared to begin a second term in office, he looked forward to continuing to work with him and other state governors to further improve the living conditions of Nigerians in Osun and other states.

The statement read, “President Jonathan congratulates Governor Aregbesola of Osun State on his victory in Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

“The President commends INEC and national security agencies for ensuring that the election was free, fair, credible and peaceful in keeping with the avowed commitment of his administration.

“President Jonathan also applauds the people of Osun State who came out en masse to peacefully and freely exercise their democratic right, trusting in his assurance that all necessary measures had been taken to ensure their safety and the sanctity of their votes.

“The President believes that the free, fair and peaceful conduct of the elections have fully reaffirmed his administration’s determination to positively reform Nigeria’s electoral processes.

“The outcome of the election has also given the lie to the false, unfair and uncharitable allegations that measures put in place by the Federal Government for the Ekiti and Osun state elections were partisan and designed to achieve a favourable outcome for his party.

“He wishes Gov. Aregbesola continued good health and a successful second term in office.”

PDP national leadership also congratulated Aregbesola and praised the security forces for keeping the peace. The congratulatory message was contained in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh.

He had earlier issued a statement in which he merely asked the PDP supporters in the state to remain calm. In a second statement, Metuh said that PDP decided to congratulate Aregebsola in the interest of peace.

“After a careful appraisal of the overall conduct of the election, the national leadership of the PDP, in spite of perceived anomalies, hereby accepts the results and congratulates Governor Aregbesola for his re-election.

“This is entirely in the interest of the growth of democracy, peace and political stability of the country in line with PDP’s ideology and the visions of our founding fathers,” the statement said.

But in Osogbo, the PDP in Osun State faulted the process that produced Gov. Aregbesola, saying some of the figures published in the media were unacceptable to it.

The party said through its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Bola Ajao, that it had earlier written a petition to INEC and complained about the process in some units.

Ajao, who was also an agent of the PDP, said he refused to sign the election results form given to all agents at the INEC office in Osogbo.

Jonathan, union leaders meet amid strike

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan is meeting union leaders Thursday for the first time since the start of a national strike that has seen workers threaten to halt oil production, a unionist said.

“We are going to meet the president at 5:00 pm (1600 GMT),” Peter Esele, president of Trade Union Congress, told AFP after oil workers announced they would shut down crude production in Africa’s largest oil producer from Sunday.

Jonathan, security chiefs in crucial meeting amid nationwide strike

President Goodluck Jonathan met his security chiefs on Tuesday as he came under mounting pressure on the second day of a nationwide strike over fuel prices and amid violence blamed on Islamists.

The meeting included the chief of defence staff, police chief, defence minister, Vice President Namadi Sambo and convened in Jonathan’s office on Tuesday afternoon. No one commented on their way in.

On Tuesday, gangs set up burning roadblocks, police fired tear gas and businesses shut on the second day of a national strike that has paralysed the country and sparked deadly violence.

Security forces are also already under heavy pressure over spiralling violence blamed on Islamist group Boko Haram.

Recent deadly attacks on Christians have sparked fears of a wider religious conflict in a country whose population is roughly divided between a mainly Muslim north and predominantly Christian south.
