Wonder Kid, as Fake woman soldier arrested in Ondo

Angela Umieh
A middle aged woman, Angela Omieh, who posed as a soldier to extort money from people has been arrested by men of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Akure, Ondo State.
Recovered from her were military uniform, police extract, sworn affidavit for loss of her military identity card, military kits, two pairs of camouflage, camouflage T shirt and shorts, a pair of desert boots, one jungle hat and three handsets.
Parading the suspect, the Public Relations Officer of the Artillery Brigade, Captain Ademola Adegoke, said she was arrested following a tip-off  by her lover.
Adegoke said that the suspect resides in Mile 3, Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to him, the suspect had earlier claimed to be a soldier attached to the 149 Battalion but was deployed to the Joint Task Force, Warri for  military duty.
Adegoke told newsmen that the suspect’s boyfriend, Mr. Collins Jegede, reported to the soldiers how he met the suspect on social network dressed in military outfit.
He added that they became lovers and she paid him a visit in January 2014 dressed in full military uniform.
But while the lover boy reciprocated the visit, he was surprised that the  suspect,  instead of allowing him stay with her at 149 Battalion, Ojo Military Baracks, where she claimed to work and resides, lodged him in a hotel at Sango Ijaye axis of Lagos State.
Jegede became suspicious and when the suspect made another visit on April 17, 2014 she was handed over to the officer in charge of a military checkpoint at Owo following suspicions that she was a fake soldier.
I was pushed into it to survive—Suspect
Answering questions from newsmen, the suspect confirmed she is a fake soldier and  was pushed into the gambit to survive.
The suspect confirmed that she bought the military uniforms from the Army depot in Zaria following the death of her father in 2011.
She said she attended the Military School in Zaria, Kaduna State and opted out when she got injured.
According to her, “I could  not continue when my father died and I decided to buy the military outfits with which I travelled to Cotonou for businesses.”
However, she explained that she started using the military outfits this year.
When asked if she attended any military school to qualify her as a military officer, she said she decided to use the military uniform to extort in order to survive after the death of her father.
The suspect is to be handed over to the police for prosecution
