EXCLUSIVE: Meet The Man In Toolz’s Life

She’s probably the most sought after media personality right now, but Toolz is now reportedly off the market.

She’s rocked our world on radio and TV, is a photographers’ delight on the red carpet, and honestly almost every man’s desire.

Tolu ‘Toolz’ Oniru, ever since returning from London in 2007 to work as a radio presenter at top urban radio station The Beat FM 99.9, has been turning heads and stealing hearts. And several men have been linked to this ‘well endowed’ lady who is in her late 20s.

We’ve heard of the likes of upcoming rapper Beazy, dancehall act Shank, producer Don Jazzy and rapper Lynxxx – although these were all speculation. Many other men have professed their ‘love’ for her and we’ll tell you why…

Over the years we’ve seen media personalities stumble upon success without being able to utilize the opportunity. Toolz has been very smart  – starting out as an OAP at Beat FM anchoring the ‘The Midday Show’ and gradually working her way into other ventures – hosting the viral Ndani TV interview segment on ‘The Juice’, hosting several events, working with worldwide platforms like MTV, and setting up her urban-themed website.

One can smell some endorsements coming her way soon. Besides, it’s not every day you get a call from well known media personality and legislator Abike Dabiri telling you ‘well done you’re doing a great job’.
But what does it profit Toolz to gain all that attention (and money!) and not be with that special somebody?

Many have been asking for months; Who’s this gorgeous Lagos princess dating? Who’s the man with the master key to what hundreds of men would kill for? NET can authoritatively tell you that he’s none other than a young man named ‘Tunde Demuren.

Multiple sources confirmed to us last week that Ms. Oniru is in a ‘steady (and steamy) relationship with Tunde Demuren.’ And it’s very likely wedding is on the cards.

Tunde (who is in his late 20s), is a trained pilot, the younger brother of EME Chairman Segun Demuren, and the son of long-serving Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Harold Demuren.

We’re told the pair have been dating for a while, but kept it secret from the public until recently, when – surprisingly – they started giving hints on twitter and arriving at dinner and parties together.
‘It’s not industry news’, a popular friend to the couple who asked for anonymity says.

‘Tunde and Tolu have been kicking it for a while now; they don’t hide it from us. They don’t want it going public so you guys don’t spoil it for them’ she adds.
Another source close to them says it seems the couple became more courageous about going public after Pop singer Tiwa Savage and manager-fiancĂ© Tunji ‘Tee-Billz’ Balogun ‘came out’ in February.

When NET contacted the couple however, they neither confirmed nor denied the affair.
‘He’s a very good friend’ Toolz says, while Tunde who’s also a director at EME and one of Banky W’s closest friends declined to comment.
Maybe they’ll spring a surprise like Tiwa and Tee-Billz?!

But before then, just in case you’re still doubting, and want concrete proof Toolz is head over heels in love with Demuren, you may want to watch her interview with Ice Prince on The Juice. It took only one question from Ice to destabilise the OAP- ‘how’s Tunde?’

She didn’t have to answer. As they say, actions speak louder than words; and her actions in response to the question provide all the answers you need…

All The Juicy Gist From 2face And Annie Idibia’s Traditional Wedding In Akwa Ibom

2face and Annie Idibia shortly after their wedding ceremony
And the D-Day (March 8, 2013) finally came for Annie Macaulay!

It’s a little over a year after African pop singer 2face Idibia romantically proposed to longtime girlfriend and baby mama Annie Macaulay and less than a year, since they secretly got married.

No more surprises though – the couple who announced they will be throwing a big wedding this March lived up to their word by travelling all the way to Akwa Ibom for their traditional wedding.

Little Eket Community in Akwa-Ibom received a host of celebrities last weekend as the love birds 2face and Annie had their star-studded traditional wedding. Celebs guests included best buddy Sound Sultan, Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw and Ini Edo, HipHopWorld Magazine boss Ayo Animashaun, Now Muzik’s Efe Omorogbe and Tony Anifite, Timaya, Iyanya and more.

Most guests stayed at the Villa Marina hotel, especially those who arrived the night before. The pre-wedding bash also held a night to the wedding, and all that we are told was sponsored by the governor of Akwa Ibom state Godswill Akpabio.

Final preparations are being made for the grand white wedding taking place in Dubai, later this month.

Plantashun Boiz absent

2face’s former band mates Blackface and Faze were surprisingly missing from the pop singer’s Traditional wedding with his bride Annie. Despite going their solo ways in 2004, 2face has remained good friends with them and featured them in his 2012 album concert.

D’banj, Psquare, others MIA

A host of A-list celebs were missing in action, with most prominent stars being D’banj, Psquare, Don Jazzy, Darey, Kenny Ogungbe, Dayo Adeneye, 9ice, Tiwa Savage, M.I, Ice Prince, OJB Jezreel and others…

Some of the big names that did make the trip include actresses Kate Henshaw, Ini Edo, Sound Sultan, AY Comedian, and Iyanya.

The customized traditional attires

2face ditched his conventional jeans and shirt for a more cultural look at the wedding. The pop icon was spotted wearing a white long sleeve linen shirt over a brown wrapper. He accessorized with locally made beads as his necklace and hand chain. He even took it a step further by customizing his brown cap with the inscription ’2 Baba’ written on both sides.

Scramble for IVs

There was a last minute rush for invitation cards as the buzz grew bigger when the official IV and pre-wedding photos hit the web.

Inside Annie’s village

The Macaulays’ hometown Eket came alive as the celebrity couple – their daughter Annie and groom 2face arrived for one of the biggest wedding ceremonies there in the last decade. Eket is situated 52KM away from the State’s capital Uyo and takes an average drive of 54 minutes to get there. The wedding took place at the Apostolic High School, Esit Urua Community, Eket-Ibeno Road.

Best Man – Sound Sultan

2face’s ever cheerful ‘best-friend’ and music collaborator Sound Sultan played the important role of Best Man at the wedding. It would have been surprising if he had chosen another friend.

Iyanya the saviour

Iyanya turned out to be the saviour of the day; it was the ‘Kukere’ pop singer that flew in from Lagos to Eket with 2face’s wedding outfit. Apparently, the tailor had been running late with the sewing and quickly handed it to Iyanya to drop it off. Crisis averted.

Why the event started five hours late

Nigerian events rarely start early and this one was no exception. All the guests had arrived early enough to see the bride and groom in all their glory but had to wait five long hours before the ceremony kicked off. Apparently 2face’s wedding outfit had not been ready all this while until the last minute.

The pre wedding party

No bachelors’ party for 2face! Everybody including the bride partied hard at a local night club in Uyo. The gig was sponsored by the state governor who also hosted guests to a post-wedding dinner at his official residence, Saturday night.

Goodswill Akpabio’s role

The Akwa Ibom State governor reportedly announced he would be donating two brand new Toyota Prado SUVs. He promised to send a 29-man delegation to Dubai whose trip will be sponsored by the State. He also promised to rehabilitate the Eket-Ibeno road before the next child dedication ceremony of the couple….

Pero Adeniyi flies in

There was a bit of tension when the couple and family heard the news of 2face’s baby mama/Off-on lover  Pero Adeniyi (who is now based in the US with her three kids) flying back into Nigeria this Idibia wedding season. Pure coincidence? (She didn’t make it to Eket, BTW).

Ghana’s Samini Disses Psquare ‘Your Alingo Is Azonto’

Samini

It seems like a West African war is going to start pretty soon between Nigeria and neighbours Ghana. Nothing to do with guns and knives though…

Popular Ghanaian dancehall act Samini has verbally dissed Psquare’s ‘Alingo’ single and dance step stating that it’s a rip off from the popular ‘Azonto’ dance.

Samini means big business: he just released a remix of the twins’ chart topping single calling his version ‘Azonto’. Freestyling over a similar beat, Samini sings ‘the name sounds like azonto, the dance kind of look like azonto, so please tell me something I don’t know‘.
‘…no be lie, you know say these guys be my guys, but i know say garri no be rice, so please try show me what be right…’, Samini adds.

The comparison between the Alingo and Azonto dance has been there ever since Peter and Paul Okoye released the song but the single kind of grew naturally to be one of the biggest hits of 2012.
Samini might be uttering the many voices of Ghanaian artistes who feel their Nigerian counterparts have taken over the ‘Azonto’ dance theme and music as the latter seem to faring better at making ‘Azonto’ music.

A similar case is with Iyanya’s ‘Kukere’. Viewers from different African countries went back and forth on YouTube arguing which country the style and sound belonged to.
And there are several Ghanians who are not particularly happy Wizkid is ripping huge dividends from his ‘Azonto’ freestyle…
