Fashion icon Lanre Da Silva Ajayi and Football legend Amokachi at loggerheads over Nigeria's passion

Nigerian fashion designer, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi was a guest on Channels TV programme, ‘Sunrise Today’, on Saturday, 25 October where she talked about the fashion industry.

She also made some comments that has been causing various twitter reactions since Saturday. See some of her comments below:
"How can Congoooooooo beat Nigeria?" She says on channels TV. "Fashion is the next big thing now, what is football? Our fashion industry has grown a lot and it’s still growing. With the money spent on football, I can set up several fashion entrepreneurs in the world.Seriously, imagine being beaten by Congo, SMH…I am just shaking my head right now #Go Fashion. All of what football can give and more! Fashion can become the true passion of Naija! Anyone that chooses can challenge me on this; I am so ready to defend it!"

It’s Game On! #GoFashion

Fashion is definitely a way better venture to express our passion

I am still shaking my head #GoFashion

Every smart person who is talented will be looking to explore fashion

Football legend, Daniel Amokachi stepped in yesterday night to put up a few tweets in response to LanreDa Silva's comment. He also made more comments this morning on Brilla FM when he was interviewed on "Hard Tackle"

See his quotes

·         Fashion is bigger than football? That is like saying Nigeria is bigger that the United States of America.
·         Football has been around for decades, people just started paying attention to fashion.
·         Football unites everybody, there is no sentiment when it comes to football
·         Mention football to people living in Sokoto or even in the village, everyone can identify with it.
·         Who knows lanre Da Silva? But everyone know Okocha, Kanu and the big footballers
·         It is not what Ronaldo puts on that makes people pay attention to him, it is what goes on the field for 90mins that makes people respect him.
·         It will take decades for fashion to meet football

Why Nigerian women will Not Ever stop bleaching

The Nigerian obsession with light skin has been well documented and it is common now to see women with different tinges of black, pink and green marking their skin, all telltale signs of lightening attempts.

Everyone claims not to understand the trend; “Love your skin”, “Be proud of your colour” are the messages people scream aloud but a subtle yet much clearer voice is heard saying “Lighter is better”.

When Dencia’s product “Whitenicious” was released, I was sufficiently outraged, like many other people were. I joined conversations about how she wasn’t proud of her skin and was intent on taking advantage of those who were like her.

But then my mind, unforgetful sponge that it is, cast me back to a time when I was not so different from Dencia and her “kind”. As a teenager, I hated myself, plain and simple. The only thing I thought God had gotten right about me was my brain.

For everything else I faulted him; my eyes were too small, my nose shaped like shorts, my hips too big and my skin? Gosh how I hated it. I would daydream for hours about the kind of life I would’ve had if I had been mixed race.

I’d concoct an entire family line where my father was American and my mother Costa Rican or she could be Indian and he a mixed race Yoruba man. I even got myself a name to fit the part; Natasha. I loved the sound of it. For some reason I felt that lighter skinned girls had the best of everything and it certainly seemed so a lot of the time.

Maybe if I was like them, then the boys would look at me in adoration. Maybe if my skin looked like warm chocolate milk, my boyfriend wouldn’t have cheated on me with Nadia, the half-German girl. Maybe, the guy I liked wouldn’t have chosen Mary the Asian instead of me. Maybe, just maybe.

The world constantly chooses light coloured women over dark ones. It’s there in the modelling industry, it’s there in music videos, it’s there in Hollywood. There are those dark skinned women who stand their ground and pull through, but they are the exception rather than the rule.

I managed to conquer my self-esteem issues before they did any real damage, but the main reason why I never bleached my skin, and never will, is because I’ve seen the after effects, and they’re not pretty.

I resisted bleaching not because I didn’t want lighter skin, but because I didn’t want to ruin the skin I already had and because I didn’t want to face the health risks that could arise from having bleached skin. This means that the only thing that differentiates me from the “bleachers”, is a little more foresight.

The truth is that life is hard on dark skinned women and not everyone can deal with the discrimination that comes from being several tones away from what’s widely acceptable. The reason why Nigerian, and indeed African, women will never stop bleaching, is that there’s too much pressure to do it and there’s too much to gain from being lighter skinned.

Everyone wants to be appreciated and valued and so that dark girl will lighten her skin just to attract that “fine boy” or to get that ushering job, or to secure herself at the top of a career that focuses solely on beauty. Insecurity is rampant and it is very expensive to maintain.

There are those women who love their skin and would never bleach and there are those who will continue to put money in Dencia’s pockets. The skin bleaching industry will continue to grow and people will continue to find better and better ways to do it until the results are almost seamless.

The world can stop this, of course, by taking its focus off beauty and physical appearances and starting to look at what a woman possesses on the inside. However, we all know that this will never happen. So, let the bleaching continue.

My Marriage Wasn’t A Secret & I Didn’t Marry My Former Wife’s Cousin - Zaaki Azzay

Zaaki Azzay has denied marrying his former wife’s cousin, stating that they are only from the same Local Government. He also said his marriage was not in any way a secret because he granted exclusive coverage to HipTv and reporters from Radio Benue were also present. The wedding took place three weeks ago. What he told The Nation;

“As a public figure, everybody knows my story. It is on the Internet. My present wife’s family has looked into the matter critically and found out that most of what was said about me was not true.  Apart from this, Hembadoon is not someone who doesn’t know her right from her left. She is a graduate of Benue State University.
There is no way I could have married from the same local government, where my ex-wife comes from. I mean I couldn’t have married from my ex-wife’s village, if I wasn’t innocent of all that my ex-wife accused me of. With time, the truth will be revealed.”

When asked why he married another wife from the same village where his ex comes from, he said: “When I started dating my present wife, I didn’t know that she was from the same community with my former wife. I had vowed never to touch anybody who doesn’t love me sincerely because I didn’t want to fall into the wrong hands again. But when I eventually fell in love seriously, I knew. I have met a lot of women who are finer, richer and more educated than she is, but I know that they are just after me for one thing or the other. So, it is love that actually joined us. In fact, when I found out that she is from that community, I almost ran away. But eventually, I decided that I won’t maltreat another woman because one woman has wronged me. You shouldn’t let your past influence your future. I didn’t marry secretly. Radio Benue was there and I gave Hip TV exclusivity to cover it.”

"There was a time Beyonce almost attacked me over Jay Z" - 50 Cent

Many think Beyonce can’t stand up for Jay Z because she watched her sister beat him up..Well, 50 cent thinks differently because Bey almost came at him once…He also said if he was in Jay Z’s position in that elevator, he would have f*ucked Solange up once or twice .. .In a new interview with The Breakfast Club he said ……

“One time BeyoncĂ© jumped off of a ledge and came running over cause she thought me and Jay had issues. And I’m like, “What the f-ck? Did she really just jump and run up on me like that?.We was at the Cosmopolitan hotel. She jumped out and was like this, “What?! That Bonnie and Clyde forreal! You try this or what, boy?! I’m here!” She bugged out at me. I looked and Jay starts laughing. He’s like, “Yo, you know what it is.” I said, “Oh sh-t! What the f-ck y’all got going on, man? Bey jumped down off of that joint like, “What?! Wassup?!” Matter of fact, Floyd Mayweather was there. We were in the Cosmopolitan in Vegas and I was bringing him to say wassup to Jay because Jay don’t really like him.”

REVEALED! “Many Nigerian artistes lead fake lives” - Duncan Mighty

In a new interview with Punch,Duncan Mighty said
“A lot of Nigerian artistes’ lead fake lives. They claim to be what they are not, just because they want to meet up their peers and fellow artistes. I live in my own house (it has a swimming pool, lounge and studio) and I make bold to say I didn’t buy it. I built it from the scratch. But a lot of these artistes will claim they bought a house for N300m or N400m.But I didn’t spend up to that amount to build my house. If you have that amount, say N500m, you don’t go and buy one property. There are many things to do with money. They claim they have state-of-the-art cars, but that is not my priority. I have choice cars, but it takes a lot of money to maintain such cars.”

Dbanj to sue Dailymail for calling him a womaniser

Daily mail published a report that Real Housewives star, Kenya Moore is paying Dbanj to feature in the show as her African Prince .They described him as a womaniser. Now Dbanj says he is going to sue them for defamation. Here is what he told Encomium
It is a rumour. The story has no substance. I'm even about going to sue UK daily mail for the defamation of character. I'm discussing with my legal team. They didn't hear from me. Everything they wrote is totally
wrong. They defined Koko master wrongly. I think they wanted to talk about Kenya Moore, who was a former Miss America, but they didn’t get their facts right. Everything they wrote was false .They are going to hear from my legal team, soon.
When are you getting married?

I'm going to marry at the right time. Trust me. You guys are asking me when I'm getting married because Tuface has married. Peter (psquare) is married. Even Paul has also married. At God's appointed time, I will marry just as my friends are now getting married.
Have you found love?
Yes, I have found love

Who is the lucky girl?
I won't tell you
