Three steal N25m belonging to Fayose's PA in Ekiti Govt House
Three persons have been remanded in prison custody by an Ado Ekiti Chief
Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing $50,000 (N25m) belonging to
the Personal Assistant to Governor Ayodele Fayose, Mr Sunday Omosilade.
The three persons, Bamidele Temitope, 36; Afolabi Sunday, 42 and Shuaib Amidu, 67 allegedly stole the money, which was in United States dollars, on December 29, 2016 at the Ekiti State Government House Lodge in Ado-Ekiti.
Mr Caleb Leranmo, the police sergeant who is prosecuting the case, said when the matter was brought for hearing at the court, on Wednesday, that the accused persons conspired together “to
commit felony to wit stealing”, and added that they had “thereby committed an offence punishable under section 516 of Criminal Code, Cap C16, laws of Ekiti State 2012.”
He said one of the accused, Shuaib Amidu, allegedly became an accessory to the crime when he was alleged to have changed $20,000 alleged stolen money to Naira denomination for Sunday Afolabi on December 30, 2016 at Mugbagba area of the state capital.
According to him, the alleged offence by Amidu contravened section 519 of the Criminal Code, Cap C16, Laws of Ekiti State 2012.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The counsel for the accused, Mr Busuyi Ayorinde, in his submission, applied for their bail. However, the court told him to formalise his application.
The Chief Magistrate, Adesoji Adegboye, consequently remanded the accused persons in prison custody and adjourned the case to January 16, 2017 for further hearing.
