Biology teacher charged for sleeping with 5 of her students

Marquita Alston, 24, is facing a string of criminal charges over her alleged conduct at a high school in Tennessee.

A teacher has been arrested for allegedly seducing and having sex with five of her students.

Police were shocked as more and more alleged victims stepped forward with allegations against 24-year-old Marquita Alston.

But the former Pearl Cohn High School biology teacher has now been charged with five counts of statutory rape, a Tennessean newspaper reports.

Prosecutors alleged Alston performed sex acts on five 17-year-old boys between September and November of 2014.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department told the paper its Sex Crimes Unit began investigating Marquita Alston, 24, in November 2014.

That followed Pearl Cohn’s principal contacting police in regard to apparently disturbing information she had received about the teacher.

In the following months, detectives interviewed multiple people including students, where they were told that Alston had sexual contact with several teens.

Police told The Tennessean that some of the contact may have occurred on the Pearl Cohn campus.

The district attorney's office filed charges against Alston, who is free on $1,000 bond.

Alston was placed on administrative leave by the school system when the investigation started and she resigned a month later.

Investigators in Nashville, Tennessee, are still compiling reports.
