Barber murders and buries Nigerian woman after rape attempt
The Kano State Police Command has arrested Shamsu Isah, a 35-year-old
barber, for the alleged rape and murder of a 21-year-old woman, Rejoice
Isaac, at the Karkasara Quarters in Kano Metropolis.
According to Punch, Isah allegedly murdered Isaac on August 3 and buried her corpse in an uncompleted building at the quarters.
Confirming the arrest, the Kano State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Magaji Majiya, said after Isah was arrested, he took police officers to the building were he buried the deceased.
“The suspect confessed to burying Isaac but denied killing her. He had attempted to rape her but as she was trying to run away, she was hit by a wood on the head and that led to her death,” the police PPRO said.
“We invited doctors from the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital to conduct autopsy on the deceased’s body. We are now waiting for the result,” Majiya added.
Majiya noted that the Kano State Police Commissioner, Rabi’u Yusuf, ordered that Isah be transferred from the Special Anti-kidnapping Unit to the Criminal Investigation Department for appropriate investigation.
“The suspect is currently with the police undergoing interrogation to ascertain the cause of the deceased’s death,” the PPRO concluded.
