Calabar Police Command Arrests Two Sisters For Selling Their Babies, Parades Other Criminals

The Police Command in Cross Rivers State has arrested two sisters, Gift Etim Ikono and Esther Ikono and one other woman, Florence Victor Ekpo, for child trafficking.

The Commissioner of Police, Jimoh Ozi-Obeh, said the two girls gave birth to two different babies and the babies were allegedly sold out by Ekpo to an unknown buyer. He said investigation was still ongoing to get to the root of the matter.

Also arrested were Monday Edet Akpan and Etim Okon Etim who allegedly connived with a native doctor, Felix Edet Umoh, to murder two men who they accused of killing their children through witchcraft.

The police also paraded 14 suspected armed robbers. The Police Commissioner said, “In the light of the above, it will be pertinent to reassure members of the general public that the command has the capacity, capability and the wherewithal to deal with any miscreant who may dare to harass, intimidate and instill fears in the mind of Cross Riverians.”
