Former president Jonathan Finally Speaks On $2.9bn Arms Procurement – Implicates Dasuki

Former Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday denied awarding any $2 billion dollars contract for the procurement of arms.

Jonathan while speaking at a forum in Washington DC, in a dramatic manner countered former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki’s claim that “All contracts and accruing payments were with the approval of the president and commander-in-chief of the armed forces.

So, there was due process for every purchase in line with regulations guiding arms procurement for the armed forces.”

However, the president countered “I did not award any $2 billion contract for procurement of weapons.” He further queried, “Where did the money come from?.”

A presidential investigations committee into arms procurement under the Jonathan’s administration had revealed in its interim report that it discovered extra-budgetary spending by the administration to the tune of N643.8 billion and an additional $2.2 billion in the foreign currency component, all managed and supervised by Col. Sambo Dasuki, rtd.

The former President also described as surprising, some of the huge amount of money, said to be missing from the government coffers.
