Aircraft conveying Nigerian pilgrims develops engine failure after 3 failed attempts to take off
545 Muslim pilgrims from Kebbi state were left in utter shock in the early hours of today after a Boeing 747 model Aircraft with the registration number N5-MBB belonging to Max Air which was supposed to convey them to Saudi Arabia developed technical problems after three attempts to take off from Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna International Airport in Birnin Kebbi. One of the pilgrims who spoke to Dailytrust said the incident happened at exactly 1.30am today
"One of the engine of the plane developed fault after three attempt to take off from the airport. All the pilgrims in the airplane were in a state of shock and confusion as we all ran for safety as soon as the emergency exit was opened," he said.Chairman Committee on Flight, Kebbi State Hajj Task Force, Sani Dododo while confirming the incident, said the pilot of the aircraft said the plane developed a mechanical fault
"The pilot explained to us that one out of the three engines developed mechanical problem which they are making consultation to see how the problem will be solved. The pilot also advised that another flight be brought to lift the intending pilgrims and the effected flight will be taken to Kano for repair."The Kibbi stae governor has however made arrangements for another plane to take the pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
