APC Chairman Under Fire Over Statement He Made In Bayelsa State
Perekeme Kpodo, a factional chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, has reacted to a comment credited to the national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, that former Governor Timipre Sylva will be the only access to President Muhammadu Buhari for APC chieftains in the state.
Kpodo in a statement on Friday said that the pronouncement was offensive to the collectiveness of APC chieftains and members in Bayelsa.
Kpodo said the declaration was equally an affront to the President’s inaugural declaration that he was for everybody and for nobody.
According to him, “the national chairman’s elevation of Sylva to the status of a political demigod in Bayelsa APC was a calculated effort to make the people of the state politically inferior and subservient to the former governor”.
“How can the national chairman say that Sylva is the only access to the President? How can he say that it is only through Judas that we are to see Jesus Christ? He quipped.
“How can he say that it is only through a man with corruption charges hanging over him that we are to see the symbol of anti-corruption? It does not tally. Except the national chairman knows what we don’t”, he added.
Kpodo stated that Odigie-Oyegun had subtly confirmed that APC was planning to, without due process, allot Sylva the governorship ticket of the party.
