How Buhari Embarrassed Jim Ovia, Tony Elumelu And Tinubu In The US

President Muhammudu Buhari is seen by many Nigerians as a man who would not be swayed by the decisions or actions of a few and as a man of independent thinking.

Recall his “I belong to nobody“ speech on the May 29 inauguration ceremony. That speech only reaffirmed his independent mindset.

It should however not come as a surprise to Nigerians to hear that the president allegedly embarrased Nigerian businessmen, Jim Ovia, Tony Elumelu, Wale Tinubu and Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN),Godwin Emefiele during his four-day visit to the United states of America (USA).

According to a report by Absidiqu.com, the businessmen bought first class tickets and flew after him to the United States of America but the president told them they were not invited for his visit to the country.

Buhari was accompanied by governors Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state, Rochas Okorocha of Imo state, Ibrahim Shettima of Borno state, Al-Mukara of Nasarawa state.

The uninvited guests had intended to use their connections to get the attention of the president but on seeing them he asked: “My friends, what are you doing here? Did I invite you people? You are not needed here.”

To avoid further embarrassments, the men hurriedly left the presence of the president and headed back to the country.

President Buhari is on a four-day visit to the US after accepting an invitation by the country’s president, Barack Obama.
