Sad news: Housewife Dies At APC rally In Abaji

The Abaji neighborhood was on Monday evening thrown into mourning after a 42-year-old housewife, identified only as Halima slumped and died during a campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the town.

The party held a rally during the visit of its vice presidential candidate, Prof. Yomi Osinbajo, to Abaji, an Abuja satellite town.

A witness said the incident happened around 5:32p.m.when numerous supporters of the party, including the deceased were going round the town.

He said the woman, who held a broom with other supporters chanting the “change” slogan suddenly fell down and people around rushed her to the hospital.
“Unfortunately, before she got to hospital, the woman died. Doctors said she died of high blood pressure,’’ the witness said.
Our reporter learnt that the remains of the deceased have been buried according to Islamic rites.
Earlier, APC’s vice presidential candidate, Osinbajo, while addressing party supporters in the area, condemned what he called politics of money bags, saying retired General Muhammadu Buhari is prepared to run a government that would deliver dividends of democracy to all Nigerians.
He charged the party supporters in the area not to sell their voter’s cards under any condition before, during and even after the general elections.

The Ona of Abaji and chairman of the FCT Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, who received the party’s campaign team, urged politicians to always put the country first in their heart.
“As I always say to any politician that comes to this palace to seek for my blessing, I want to also urge you and your supporters to carry out your campaigns peacefully without any rancour and character assassination,’’ the monarch urged.
City News reports that market women who converged to receive the APC vice presidential candidate, donated money ranging from N100, N50 and N20 in support of General Buhari’s presidential bid.
