INEC staff arrested ‘for collecting N20million bribe in Taraba

INEC resident commissioner in Taraba State, Alhaji Ahmed Makamaconfirmed the news, saying the electoral officer who was arrested was presiding over the elections in the Ibbi local government area of the state on Saturday.
Angry youth are said to have attacked the suspect, after they reportedly discovered that the individual had collected N20million bribe from “a staunch politician in Ibbi to change the result of the state house of representative election in the area.”
“Yes the Electoral Officer in Ibbi was allegedly arrested over collection of money from a politician and he is under police custody. I informed the national chairman and he asked me not to secure his bail and I am not going to do that until the police concludes the investigation,” said Makama
