Meet The Nigerian Woman Who Received Japanese Peace Prize Worth $170,000 For Anti-Boko Haram Campaign

Esther Ibanga, a Nigerian woman, pastor, and activists who has been campaigning against Boko Haram sect was awarded Japanese peace prize worth $170,000 on Tuesday.

According to Niwano Peace Foundation, she has been staging a vocal protest against incessant abductions made by the Boko Haram insurgents. The Buddhist-group backed foundation said it awarded the annual prize to her because of her role in pressuring local and central governments to fight the insurgents.

“Esther has worked extensively to foster and facilitate reconciliation between conflicting religious and tribal groups, setting up an organization that has all tribal women leaders on its membership."
I believe this will serve as a motivational factor for others.
