WARNING: BIRD FLU IS BACK ! HUMANS COULD BE INFECTED
Bird flu is back and it is terrible. This particular avian sickness strain is known as H5N8. It can be picked up from bird droppings, and fluids in their eyes and saliva.
A poultry in Nafferton, East Yorkshire was attacked by the virus and the world is getting set for another dangerous battle..
And experts warn birds hit with the disease often pose no symptoms, increasing the danger to humans.
The biggest danger to people comes from prolonged contact with infected birds.
That puts farmers who muck out poultry at particularly high risk.
However scientists say H5N8 is not particularly dangerous to humans.
East Yorkshire MP Sir Greg Knight, whose constituency includes the flu-hit farm said:
“We’ve been reassured the strain is not a danger to humans, so there is no need for people to be frightened.
“The farmer must be devastated by this.
“It is one of the risks of farming – you are at the mercy of events. If it’s not the weather, it is the viruses.”
