DANGOTE STILL LEADS IN AFRICA’S BILLIONAIRE RANKINGS AS ELUMELU DEBUTS ON LIST

Nigeria’s Billionaire, Alhaji Aliko Dangote once again tops the ‘Africa’s 50 Richest’ list compiled by Forbes. CNBC reports.
For the fourth year in a row, Kano-born Dangote tops the list with an estmated worth of 21.6 billion US dollars.
The 50 richest Africans on the list have a combined net worth of 110.7 billion US dollars, 6.7 per cent higher than last year. Individuals needed to have a minimum net worth of 510 million US dollars to be on the list.
Coming in at number two is Johann Rupert who made his 7.3 billion US dollar fortune from the luxury goods industry. Nicky Oppenheimer rounds up the top three with 6.8 billion US dollars. Nassef Sawiris falls in at number four with 6.1 billion US dollars. And rounding up the top five is Christoffel Wiese, who is worth 5.4 billion US dollars.
UBA Group Chairman, Tony Elumelu is a new entrant on the list. Elumelu who is ranked at number 26 with a net worth of 1 billion US dollars is the owner of Heirs Holdings, an investment company; and Transnational Corporation (TRANSCORP Plc), a conglomerate with investments in hospitality, oil, agriculture, and logistics. He is also a philanthropist.
Cement, sugar and flour tycoon, Dangote, is also the proprietor of Dangote Foundation. A foundation that has impacted on lives across Africa.
