Why I Charge N2.5million For Comedy - Okey Bakassi

With the fast space of artistic skills in the Nigerian entertainment industry, it is no doubt that the industry has actually helped in putting food on the tables of many youths especially either in music, acting, comedy or dance.

Gone are the days when parents will want to choose careers for their children by advising them to study medicine, law or accounting or engineering and any other good courses in the higher institutions. But today, the story is different.

With the fast trend of comedy in Nigeria, thanks can only be given to the veterans in the industry who actually made parents see that aside other studied courses, there are various reasonable means by which one can survive without using it’s certificate.

Popular comedian and actor, Okey Bakassi, has disclosed that despite how the industry strives to survive, there are pretenders who are trying to slow down the growth of the entertainment industry.

According to him, the pretenders are people who notice that the business can fetch them money and they decide to do it because they may have the talent but don’t have the work ethics to sustain their career.

He explained that sustaining himself in the industry was not easy as he had to beg for shows just to prove that he was good at what he was doing and after the event, he would be paid stipend for transportation.

The comic actor thanking God for his success, stated that today he charges as high as N2.5million for shows which his clients always agrees to.
