Pastor Deitrick Haddon Explains Why He Got Drunk And Impregnated His Mistress

Pastor Deitrick Haddon, popular gospel singer-songwriter, music producer, actor has opened up in recent interview on how his separation from his wife, Damita, sent him spiraling into a new low and inspired him for the idea of the now successful reality TV Show, ”Preachers of L.A.” in which he stars.
Speaking to The New York Times, Haddon admits he was on a ”war against God” and he did anything that he should not be doing because he felt betrayed by the people who were supposed to support him.
A few years ago, Haddon, who is a son of pastor, fled his home which he shared with his wife in Detriot Michigan and his ministry which he inherited from his father and went to Los Angeles where he lived the wild life, according to him, did things that were out of his character which included visiting strip clubs, getting drunk, and impregnating his new girlfriend.
He had recently separated from his wife, who is also a gospel singer, and was beginning to feel the sting of backlash from his fellow Christians. His concerts were canceled.
“I was wilding out,” he recalls. “You name it, I did it. Strip clubs, drinking, things that was completely out of my character.”
“You don’t expect that the same people that you helped and encouraged to treat you that way,” he said.
“I began to pour out my heart,” Mr. Haddon said.
“People need to know the truth about us men,” the pastor said. “We need to do a reality show about stuff like this.”
And according to him, that is how the idea for one of last year’s most invigorating and surprising reality television debuts now in its second season on Oxygen.
