Ekiti Music Star Chief Elemure Ogunyemi Died At 67
Ado Ekiti-based traditional musician, Chief Elemure Ogunyemi, who turned 67 on August 25, 2014, reportedly passed away in his Ado Ekiti residence last night.
According to the Nation, the cause of Ogunyemi’s death hasn’t been disclosed. However, it was gathered that the Ekiti music star was a diabetic patient and had managed it effectively prior to his death. But, it’s unknown whether his death has link with the sickness.
On May 12, 2012, there were rumours that Dr. Elemure Ogunyemi died, however, the musician debunked those rumours. According to him, the rumours were spread by his rival musicians in the state.
Before his death, Elemure had received over 105 local and international awards from the various institutions, including a honorary doctorate degree from the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) in 1994.
