Miley Cyrus banned from performing in the Dominican Republic
The 21-year-old singer was due to perform in the country on September 13 as part of her ‘Bangerz’ tour, but the government commission in charge of public performances has prohibited the ‘Wrecking Ball’ hitmaker from playing due to her previous controversial stage antics.
They stated: ‘[Miley] ‘undertakes acts that go against morals and customs, which are punishable by Dominican law.’
Tickets for the gig have been on sale since July and some were being sold for more than £200.
Miley has come under fire for her stage antics on several occasions including at last year’s MTV VMAs when the star twerked alongsideRobin Thicke‘s crotch while wearing a flesh-coloured bikini during their medley duet last year.
She also paraded around the stage with a huge foam finger and her performance was the talk of the town afterwards.
Despite this, Miley’s team tweeted earlier this week that she is allowed back at this year’s MTV VMAs on Sunday, August 24, 2014. The star’s ‘Wrecking Ball’ video is up for Video of the Year.
Miley is currently on a break from her 81-date ‘Bangerz’ world tour, which will resume in Puerto Rico on September 11.
She will later head to Brazil, Argentina, Chile and New Zealand, among other countries, before concluding the mammoth run of gigs in Perth, Australia, on October 23.
