Photos: This Is How these 5 Nigeria’s Famous Female Singers really Got Their Fame

They had their moments and they made it count! From working round the clock to lean account balance, these female celebrities are now household names. They’ve found their way to the top. Yes. But they did not fly into it…

Let us take a look at how some of our much loved divas got their fame:

TIWA SAVAGE:
Her 'Wanted' video may have been greeted with mixed feelings, but she has certainly flaunted it! Three years ago, she dare not. Her work with international acts abroad does not guarantee success in Nigeria.

Introducing herself to Nigerian music lovers, her presence was first felt with Kele Kele love andLove me. But her moment would not come until she featured star producer, Don Jazzy, on that heartfelt hit, Don’t Leave without My Heart.

Tiwa has since gone up to continue singing for us with her heart.
EVA ALORDIAH: Eva could win any man’s love. Any day. With a glowing beauty, heads are easily turned. An abundance of talent, Eva is not just a singer. No. She doubles as a writer, rapper, model, dancer, makeup artist, song writer and hustler too. And it takes a lot of steam and hard work to pull all these through.

However, her moment came calling when she voiced over Lil Wayne’s A Millie instrumental. That experiment paid off. Eva has since built on that.
OMAWUMI: Her strong voice can steer a change. Omawumi had an early start. But she was almost ignored. However, her moment came in West Africa Idols in 2009. She sang her heart out and finished first runner up in that contest. Since her debut single, In the Music, Omawumi has not slowed down.
WAJE: Her Fly with the Eagles collaboration may be making waves, but it may be hard to take your eyes off the lady behind the voice. A rare talent, her vocal range covers three octaves.

But it was not all boom for her. She may have featured in several hits including P square’s Do Me, Banky W’s Thief My Kele and MI’s One naira, but it was her single So Inspired that made her path straight.

A workaholic, she recently confessed of having little or no time for her flocking male admirers.
CHIDINMA: Petite, charming and stunning, Chidinma has shown that small can be sexy too. A songbird, Chidinma quest for success led her into the church choir.

There, she waited for her moment. It came. MTN Project Fame in 2010 was all she needed.

She emerged from the singing competition with the ultimate prize. She has since grown in bounds. She may be enjoying the spotlight, but that has come with a lot of hard work.
