Forbes Africa annual list of “20 Young Power African Women” has been released and three Nigerian enterprising women made the list.

They are: Beauty entrepreneur Tara Fela Durotoye, the founder and CEO of House of Tara International; fashion designer Folake Coker, founder and CEO of Tiffany Amber and medical doctor Ola Orekunrin, founder of The Flying Doctors.

Also Nigerian business tycoon, Folorunsho Alakija, covers Forbes Woman Africa Magazine’s December 2013 To January 2014 issue.

Starting her career as a secretary in a bank in the mid 1970s, Alakija, 62, then studied fashion in London and returned to Nigeria to start a label, Supreme Stitches. But her biggest break came in oil.

According to Forbes, Alakija who is the richest black woman in the world and is involved in the fashion, oil and printing industries is profoundly uncomfortable with being labelled as “super-rich”.

She believes that she is far more than just her wealth.

Well deserved.
