Group backs Jonathan, asks NLC to call off strike
Ijaw Oil Defence Forum, CIODF, a pressure group fighting for the rights of oil-bearing Ijaw communities across the Niger Delta region, Wednesday, threw its weight behindPresident Goodluck Jonathan over the removal of fuel subsidy and called on the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, to call off its nationwide strike.
The group in astatement jointly signed by its chairman, Chief Christopher Porbeni and three others, said, “We, the Concerned IjawOil Defence Forum want to state categorically that the removal of fuel subsidyshould stay”.
“We commend the entire Federal Executive Council, the Governors’ Forum, the Governor of Central Bank, and the Honourable Ministers of Petroleum and Finance specifically, for the solid determination to move Nigeriaforward by the removal of fuel subsidy”, they asserted.
